Design Index History & Foundation

Design Index was created out of the friendship between Madelon and Jasmine that started in 2013 as Interior Architecture students. Their shared passion for design, travel, and Jesus developed into a strong friendship that has evolved over the years. Fueled by a mutual love for vintage Scandinavian furniture, and Jasmine's move to Sweden, they decided to take a bold step in 2023 and walk into a cross-continent business venture.

Embracing their complementary skills and separate locations, they set out to uncover beautiful vintage Scandinavian furniture, art, and accessories to bring to the Southeast United States. Part of what makes this company unique is the fact that we don't just fly to Europe for a couple of weeks, get some furniture and ship it back; instead we are actually gathering stories and culture along the way to pass on to our customers and followers. We have met so many amazing people and learned so much about Swedish culture in particular. There is still so much more to explore, and we are really excited to continue to share our stories and experiences along the way so stay tuned!

Jasmine is a multi-disciplined designer with a background in interior design, strategy, and art, who is currently working as an automotive designer specialising in colour/materials and brand strategy for Zeekr. She is the face behind the graphics and photography for the brand. She also works primarily on buying goods from all over Sweden and Denmark.

Madelon is a multi-disciplined designer and stylist with a background in luxury residential design and production design. She is currently working with film and tv production, styling sets for commercials in Atlanta. She is the face behind our social media and pop up shop queen. She also works primarily on selling goods all over the Southeast United States.
